Slime Crime

Peter Slimedelson

I haven’t had time to read the memoirs of Peter Mandelson, the slimy fixer for New Labour. I’ll wait til I see it at a boot sale so he won’t profit from it.

I think that any money gained from this kind of publication should go straight back to the country the author was supposedly representing when they gained the information.

But from what I’ve seen and heard it (as usual) sheds new light on the behind the scenes goings on in politics.

What really bothers me is that it all comes down to the fact that what we are told in public is not really what is done or even thought in private.

Personally, I think that if a politician says something in public that is later proven to be untrue, they should be prosecuted. We need some sort of offence like ‘Misleading in Public Office’ to be brought in.

It should certainly be an offence to destroy evidence as Tony Blair did.

Now that really would be ‘Open Government’.

So come on Cameron … put your legislation where your mouth is!
