Return To Father

Ethan Minnock back with Dad

Ethan Minnock is back with his Dad

Really pleased to see Ethan Minnock is back with his Dad.

Really annoyed with the police not taking any action against his mother.

Really disappointed with the media coverage.

Really pissed off, as ever, with the Family Court system.

We don’t know all the details of the case because the Family Courts are held in secret but I think we can safely guess that for a court to make an order in favour of the father, there must have been issues with the mother.

I went through the Family Court process for around 7 years and experienced numerous broken orders with no sanction against the mother who broke them. In fact it was me who was threatened with Contempt Of Court charges for daring to name my children on a website. (It’s actually Contempt of Court to make it possible for anyone to identify a child involved in a Family Court case, or for the media to publish those details, unless of course it’s a child of a celebrity in which case different rules seem to apply.)

I’m proud to say I joined Fathers 4 Justice where I met numerous dads in a similar situation to me, a father who was imprisoned for waving at his kids in the street and one who, when he stayed slightly too long on holiday with his kids, was arrested by armed police on a Portuguese beach.

The media coverage in this case has been extremely sympathetic towards the mother but just imagine how a father who did the same would be represented…. and now, the icing on the cake is that she is speaking exclusively to a national newspaper – do we really believe that offer had nothing to do with her giving herself up?

If in her exclusive she reveals any detail about what was said in the Family Court, I would expect that she is immediately arrested and the paper prosecuted.

A couple of good things have come out of this though. The first is that Ethan is back with his Dad, the second is that the double standards of the Family Court system have been highlighted – or at least they will have if the media has the balls to report it truthfully.

Blair, Bliar Pants on Fire

Tony Blair

Tony Blair

Interesting to read that Tony Blair would like to be PM again.

Maybe he’s just made so much money with his public speaking and writing deals that he feels he can sit back for a while.

Anyway, lets look at what he said to the Evening Standard about why he left in the first place:

“I didn’t want to go but I felt that I had to. The only choice would have been to have fought a very bloody battle internally which I thought would damage the country as well as the party.”

So when that whole sad saga was going on, he lied to us when he said he was happy Gordon Brown was taking over.

Then there’s the war in Iraq where we know he lied about the WMD’s.

He was party to the lie levelled against Fathers 4 Justice that they intended to kidnap Blair’s son and he kept secret (lied about) his own daughters suicide attempt  (well known to the media but there is an agreement in place not to publish).

I’ve said before that there should be an offence of “misleading the public while in office’ and if there was, he’s a prime example of someone who would be charged.

I’ve also said that any money made on the back of a political career funded by the taxpayer from memoirs, speaking etc, should be paid back – after all, students have to pay back their loans.

So could he be PM again? Well, he’s a liar, he has more money than most of us could dream of despite his claims for equality and  he’s self serving so I guess he fits the profile.

Should he be PM again – definitely not!

The Gingerbread Clan

March 6, 2012

GingerbreadRun, run, as fast as you can – you can’t catch them they’re The Gingerbread Clan.

File this one under ‘equality’ or should that be ‘inequality”.

Gingerbread are a charity that represents single parents – very commendable too – but they have been saying that the Family Law Courts work in the ‘best interests of the child’ when parents end up there.

Nice idea but when Fathers 4 Justice asked them for the proof to back up this statement, Gingerbread failed to rerspond.

And when F4J asked publicly on the Gingerbread Facebook page, Gingerbread blocked them – could they have something to hide?

As I said, Gingerbread exist to support single parents, which presumably should include Dads as well as Mums … remember that equality thing, and have no vested interest in promoting the Family Court system.

Well, F4J did some reseaech and it appears the Gingerbread board might not be quite so equally Dad friendly as they should be,  including someone on the board of CAFCASS (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service), a Family Law barrister and others whose work relates only to women or are outright anti-Fathers 4 Justice.

See more HERE

If Gingerbread really work ‘in the best interest’ of the children, they should reply publicly to F4J and back that statement up.

S.O.S. (Same Old Sh*t) for Fathers and Families

Theresa May

Theresa May

The  Norgrove report has recommended that fathers don’t have an equal right to access to their children after a relationship break up.

Or put another way, he recommends that if the mother doesn’t want the children seeing their father, that is ok – as long as he keeps on paying for them.

It also doesn’t help the grandparents on the father’s side who have to apply to even get permission to go to court for access.

Theresa May was on Question Time last night making all the right noises towards fathers but she has form for this ….

Before the General Election in 2005 (was it really that long ago and are we still no further forward?) I met with her in Norfolk as a representative of Fathers 4 Justice, along with a colleague, the local MP, members of the Womens Institute and various church people. She listened while we put our case which was well received and understood by everyone at the table and again she made all the right noises, saying she supported our cause.

As the meeting came to a close I asked her if this meant she would be trying to get the change to give fathers equal rights a part of the manifesto. She made the usual concilliatory noises but when I pushed her for an answer there was none forthcoming.

The woman is a perfect example of MP’s saying what they think you want to hear but doing whatever suits them at the time …she’s a disgrace! And so are the present Government who have made promises of reform in the past and now look to be going back on them. Not that the previous Government were any better.

But it’s not just fathers and grandparents who suffer, it’s not even just the kids – it’s society as a whole. Study after study has concluded that we have such high levels of alcohol abuse, drug abuse and anti-social behaviour in youngsters in this country as a result of the high divorce rate and the lack of contact with both parents after. We’re breaking up the homes, breaking childrens hearts and breaking society.

The usual arguements about abusive fathers is rolled out but no one ever mentions abusive mothers or the abusive step-parent (who the natural father has no control over to be able to protect his kids). The real figures show that approximately 25% of deaths to children through abuse are by the father, 25% by the mother and 50% by the step-parent (usually the step-father as most children stay with the mother but there is no reason to think step-mothers are any better than natural ones).

An organisation called ‘Resolution’ has been backing the report, saying that we need to take cases through the court system to protect the children but who are Resolution … or ‘Resolution, First For Family Law’ as their website proclaims. Unsurprisingly they used to be called the ‘Solicitors Family Law Association’ so have  vested interested in making sure as many cases go through court as possible because they are made up of …… Solicitors.

You couldn’t make it up.

What next, accountants backing a report that says everyone should be required to use an accountant.

Our Father Who Art in Jeopardy

Barack Obama

Barack Obama

On the eve of Fathers Day, Barrack Obama has decided to score political points by tarring all fathers with the ‘Deadbeat Dad’ brush.

He has said that children who grow up without fathers face social disadvantages, which is true, but has blamed this on fathers not accepting their responsibilities.

He has blatently ignored the fact that many children, in the US, the UK and around the world, don’t have a father in their lives because when the family split up the mother decided he was no longer needed and was aided and abetted in removing the father from their children’s lives by legal systems that work on the assumption that mothers are always the best parent for a child and a father is just a sperm donor/financial contributor.

F4J Batman

F4J Batman

As if to highlight the UK’s attitude to fathers, a protestor from Fathers 4 Justice who climbed up a motorway gantry is facing 7 years in prison.

The judge who presided in this case is the same one who gave a sentence of 3 years and 8 months to a predatory paedophile who targetted 8 year olds.

So there you have it.

In the UK today peaceful protestors get almost twice as long in prison as paedophiles. Makes you proud doesn’t it?
